State of Summer: Finale
Our final week brings us Author & Co-Host of Throwing Fits; Creator of "Silverlake Style" & Founder of Mohawk; and Tough Romantic & Owner of Chickee’s Vintage.
Lawrence Schlossman 👔
Larry has been sharing his ideas and vision for years in writing, visuals and now on his podcast Throwing Fits. His cigarette stained sentences and outbursts of laughter barely contain his enthusiasm for engaging with guests or trading with co-host James Harris. Knowledge and opinions are said with openness and space for discussion - encouraging listeners to develop their own style and voice. Exceedingly humble, happy, and heated.

How are you spending your summer ?
Summer kicked off with a bang, as I was lucky enough to hit the European Fashion Month circuit with my buddy and Throwing Fits co-host James Harris, going from Florence to Milan to Paris. It was my first time going back-to-back-to back with Pitti Uomo and the fashion shows, and while admittedly incredibly grueling being on the road for that long, it was totally worth it not just from a content creation standpoint, but a real validation moment for me after being in this industry for over a decade and finally feeling like I found my place in it. From turbo bro-ing down with the entire menswear community in Florence to sitting front row at Louis Vuitton, I've just never felt more locked in, which is truly an amazing feeling. From there, I took a much-deserved vacation with my wife in Ischia, which has become something of a new tradition for us. In my eyes it's heaven on earth and I'm already salivating at the thought of drinking a thousand birre at a beach club this time next year.
What will we find you wearing ?
I've been getting pretty wild, at least for me, when it comes to all the footwear I've been pairing with my Shiro socks, so let's get into it. Whether soft eel loafers from The Row, ALD fisherman sandals, Ghiaia Cashmere jellies, grecian and ghillie lace slippers from Stoffa, Saman Amel city mocs, Morjas boat shoes or just my go-to Belgians, my rotation has been extra dainty and light. It's been honestly freeing, literally and figuratively, and given me a great foundation to experiment with a bunch of other new bottoms silhouettes like gigantic pleated shorts and trousers.
Is there anything that you’re particularly engaged in at the moment ?
Without sounding too nerdy or playing into wack stereotypes, my love of music and movies often leads to fairly ridiculous memorabilia purchases. Just in the past month I've acquired an original Kodak transparency of Lawrence of Arabia (1962) artwork and a vintage 1972 advertisement for T.Rex's classic album The Slider. I'm running out of space in the crib as it is, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a few Targets (1968) movie posters on my watchlist as we speak.
What gives you comfort ?
Nothing is better than spending a lazy weekend with my wife and dog, whether that's vegging out on the couch or taking a quick jaunt to Fort Greene in Brooklyn to post up for a bite and drink outside. They're my whole heart and as long as they're within arm's reach I'm at peace. Simple as that.
Thank You Larry !

How are you spending your summer ?
We are spending a couple weeks in southern Italy in Puglia with my family. Days will be spent exploring beaches and evenings in small villages in the piazzas. We will go to flea markets and churches. My kids will be staying out late and eating gelato at all hours.
What will we find you wearing ?
I will be wearing lots of linen clothing in white and black.
Is there anything that you’re particularly engaged in at the moment ?
Right now I am trying to be present as a mother to two young kids but also be present as a store owner and buyer. Will try to find some interesting things for the store in Italy as well.
What gives you comfort ?
When things get stressful I think of the things that I can be thankful for like family friends and our community.
Thank You Bo !

When you step into Chickee’s Vintage you’re struck by the beauty of the small but perfectly appointed store. There are pretty things and there are beautiful things. In the roots, the work, the people. At the front, the light illuminates at just an angle that makes you think that Kathleen sees something that we soon will also hopefully see - it’s all beautiful.

How are you spending your summer ?
I’ve been in and out of sickness all summer while traveling, to be honest. I’m finally back home and excited to ground myself in my routine again. I’ve started going to acupuncture again.
What will we find you wearing ?
Loose clothes and flip flops.
Is there anything that you’re particularly engaged in at the moment ?
I’ve never watched Mad Men all the way through — my boyfriend and I have been slowly enjoying it all summer. Currently we’re on the fourth season.
What gives you comfort ?
Beauty and love.
Thank You Kathleen !
